Foster-to-Adopt Services

For many of us our childhoods were typical. However, that isn’t the case for every child. Many children find themselves alone when their parents can’t support them, and those children find comfort with us at Clarvida.

At Camelot, we want to help children find a home that gives them the stability they deserve. That’s why, as a part of our mission, we facilitate foster care services and foster-to-adopt services in Tennessee.

Foster Care Services Through Clarvida

There are times children can’t live at home or with any other family member. When that happens, the State of Tennessee assumes custody of the child. This is where foster parents come into the picture. Foster parents provide a safe home until the child can return to their own home.

Quick Facts About Foster Care:

In Tennessee, 8,000 children live in foster care. However, only 4,000 households in Tennessee open their doors to foster children.

Only 20% of children available for adoption over the age of 8 find a permanent home.

On any day in the State of Tennessee there are over 350 children in need of a permanent home.

Bringing the Child Into Your Home

Children from hard places often struggle with the idea of family. The resistance they sometimes put up is about being accepted as part of your family. Don’t take this personally. They are reacting from the trauma they have experienced. To help with these moments, Clarvida offers 24/7 support for foster parents

Finances

Foster parents receive a monthly stipend for the children in their home. This helps offset the expenses of food, clothing, school supplies, and basic necessities.

Saying Goodbye or Foster-to-Adopt

Foster care is about reunifying children with their families when it is possible. The majority of foster parents report seeing a child go home is a happy moment because it means a family is reunited. In some cases, foster parents and the children they cared for remain in contact with the former foster parents acting as a support for the biological family.

In other cases, the court determines that returning home may not be in the best interest of the child. When that happens, the family who has been caring for the child will be considered as an adoptive family, if the family is interested.
