Everyday Heroes: Celebrating Clarvida Employees

Our employees are the heart and soul of Clarvida, and their caregiving is essential to our services. For example:

Our Autism Services provide comprehensive behavior support and training for individuals with autism and their families, delivered by dedicated professionals such as Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and ABA therapists. These caregivers work tirelessly to ensure that each individual and their family receives personalized support tailored to their unique needs.    

Our Community Crisis Centers offer a safe, non-judgmental environment and essential services like medical screening, behavioral health assessments, and peer support. These centers are staffed by compassionate caregivers who provide critical care during times of crisis, ensuring individuals receive the help they need when they need it most.

Our Counseling and Therapy services support children and adults with a wide range of behavioral and mental health needs. These services are provided by trained specialists and licensed professionals who act as caregivers, offering guidance, support, and therapeutic interventions to help clients navigate their challenges.

For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, our Residential Support Services provide daily living support, nursing services, and community integration activities. Caregivers in these facilities work closely with residents to promote independence and enhance their quality of life.

Our Foster Care program recruits and trains foster parents, ensuring that foster children receive the housing, parental support, and comfort they need. These foster parents are caregivers who open their hearts and homes to children in need, providing a stable and nurturing environment.

Balancing Act for Our Caregivers

As we celebrate the incredible work of our employees, it’s important to acknowledge the unique challenges they face. Many of our employees are part of the 53 million Americans who provide unpaid care to family members. As a result, many employees address their challenges, such as stress, social isolation, lack of support, family duties, or financial worries, while remaining committed to their roles.

This dual role requires immense strength and resilience, as they balance the demands of their careers with the responsibilities of caring for their families.

Nearly 80% of our workforce is female, and statistics show that women bear an outsized caregiving burden in their personal lives. Women caregivers often spend significantly more time providing care compared to their male counterparts, with many dedicating up to 20 hours per week to unpaid caregiving duties.

Despite these challenges, our employees continue to make a tangible impact on communities across the nation through their dedication and hard work.

Care for Caregivers: Resources and Support

Caregiving can be both rewarding and exhausting, which is why self-care is so important. According to data from the CDC, caregivers experience a significantly higher prevalence of depression compared to non-caregivers. Approximately 25% of caregivers report being diagnosed with depression, which is notably higher than the percentage found in the general population. This suggests that caregiving is associated with an increased risk of depression.

Support is essential for caregivers’ mental health. Resources such as counseling, support groups, and respite care can reduce stress and foster community. With the proper support, caregivers can feel empowered and less isolated, improving their well-being and resilience in providing care. At Clarvida, we believe that by supporting our caregivers, we enable them to provide better care for all.

To support our employees in their caregiving roles, we offer a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the EAP provides access to advocates who can help assess your needs, develop solutions, and direct you to community resources and online tools. Employees and their families can also access three face-to-face sessions with a behavioral counselor, ensuring they receive the support they need to maintain their well-being.

In addition to the EAP, Clarvida offers the I THRIVE program, a nationwide employee enrichment initiative designed to support our team members’ growth and well-being. I THRIVE stands for Inclusivity, Training, Health, Resilience, Innovation, Versatility, and Empowerment. This program provides a variety of opportunities for skill development, essential and elective training, and the creation of meaningful connections among team members.
